
A fake Netflix login page looks like the real thing, but users need to beware of a new scam designed to collect personal member account information.
HOLT, Fla., Jan. 13, 2017–A phony email looking to collect personal information from Netflix users is circulating the Internet.
Known as “phishing,” the email requests users to update their membership information by logging into their accounts through a bogus login page designs to look like a real Netflix page.
Phishing is an attempt to acquire personal information by someone pretending to be part of an official trustworthy online business.
After users fill in requested information from the phony pages, the site directs the user to the actual Netflix home page.
Netflix reminds its customers that the company will never ask for personal information in an email, to include payment information such as credit card, debit card or financial account information; social security number or an account password.
Additionally, Netflix asks any customers who received a suspicious email to forward it to phishing@netflix.com. Be sure to include the information in the email header.
