HOLT, Fla., July 30, 2017–The National Hurricane Center is watching two areas of interest for continued development.
A tropical wave several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is expected to continue to develop slowly as it moves 10 to 15 mph on its westerly course.
Chance of further formation of this system during the next five days is 30 percent.
This is a separate system from last week’s wave that ceased to develop further Friday.
A second low pressure area popped up overnight in the Gulf of Mexico off the west coast of Florida.
It’s expected to move across Florida into the Atlantic Ocean next week.
While slow development is expected, the system will produce locally heavy rains as it crosses the peninsula.
