CRESTVIEW, Fla., Aug. 18, 2017–The Crestview Police Department confiscated more than 5 pounds of marijuana today valued between $10,000 and $15,000.

K9 Officer Shane Kriser made a traffic stop after observing a driver nearly cause two accidents.

His partner, K9 Officer Cody, never had the opportunity to put his sensitive sniffer to work, Kriser said.

“The wind shifted while I was talking to the driver and I could smell it,” he said. “He had it in his tool chest.”

He found five gallon-size Ziploc bags weighing about 550 grams each.

Investigator Len Steinmeier said it was one of the largest marijuana seizures he’s seen in his more than 10-year career at Crestview Police Department.

This drug bust happened as many drug seizures do, according to Kriser.

“The guy was driving dangerously,” he said.

Chance Edward Phillips, 32, from Baker was arrested on drug charges.
