
HOLT, Fla., Aug. 30, 201–The National Weather Service in Mobile says Holt and the surrounding area will continue to see rainfall through Thursday associated with Tropical Storm Harvey.
Harvey made landfall around 4 a.m. today on the southwest Louisiana coast in Cameron Parish, about 190 miles west of New Orleans.
The storm is moving north-northeast at 7 mph and will continue in that general direction through tomorrow. Harvey will begin weakening today and tonight, according to the National Hurricane Center.
As a result of Harvey, there is a flash flood watch for the panhandle through Thursday with rainfall between 2-to-5 inches, with 6-to-8 inches possible.
Excessive rainfall can occur in short amounts which may lead to flash flooding of roads, creeks, streams and low-lying areas.
