HOLT, Fla., Nov. 28, 2017–Holt Fire District’s annual Kids Day is set for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the fire station.
For more than 20 years, Holt Fire has hosted a fun-filled family event for local children as a way to give back to the community.
Activities this year include bounce houses, face painting and crafts.
Sparky the Fire Dog will share the spotlight with the Florida Forest Service’s Smokey Bear.
Fire trucks, ambulances and other large equipment will be on static display for children young and old to check out.
New this year, the Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative will present its Live Line Safety Demonstration. Built by CHELCO employees this year, the demonstration is designed to educate the public about power line safety and dangers.
Free refreshments during the event include hot dogs provided by Susan’s Restaurant, chips and drinks. The local Boy Scout chapter will be selling baked goods as part of its fundraiser.
Santa Claus will also be present to meet boys and girls and sit for pictures. All children will receive a free present as part of the visit. Local Cub Scouts will be on hand to assist Santa’s elves.
Following the day’s activities, the Holt Fire will participate in the annual Crestview Christmas parade which starts at 5 p.m.
Parking at the fire station is limited, so organizers advise caution when parking along U.S. 90 and request drivers to slow down in the area.
