Holt resident charged with rape, battery, kidnapping

HOLT,  Fla., Dec. 29, 2017–Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Holt resident yesterday for multiple felony charges allegedly committed Dec. 27.

Florida native Shawn Michael Hale, 48, was arrested for battery, sexual battery, kidnapping and obstructing justice.

All but battery are listed as felony charges on OCSO’s warrant report.

According to the report, on Dec. 27, sometime between midnight and 4 a.m., Hale beat his victim about the face and head multiple times, bruising her face, jaw and neck.

He dragged her by her hair from the living room to the bedroom, causing abrasions on both knees, where he then tied her hands with a cloth belt and her ankles with a cell phone charge cord before raping her.

The victim remained on the bed for a few more hours to make sure it was safe to leave and notify law enforcement.

Hale was also charged with sexual assault of a minor over 12 years old; however, the timeframe of this crime was not released.

Because of the nature of the charges, the victims were not identified in the released warrant report.

Hale is a registered sexual offender for crimes committed in Erie, N.Y., in the 1990s.

He is being held without bond until his schedule court date Feb. 7.
