HOLT, Fla., June 16, 2023—The tropical wave that emerged off the coast of Africa yesterday is now forecast to have a 50 percent chance of development.

According to the National Hurricane Center, a tropical depression could form during early-to-middle portions of next week.

Should a depression form, it will be Tropical Depression Three.

The system is moving westward at 15 to 20 mph as it moves through the eastern and central tropical Atlantic Ocean.
