Excessive heat watch for Florida panhandle

HOLT, Fla., June 28, 2023—Most of the northwest Florida panhandle is under an excessive heat watch today.

Heat index values could possibly reach 113 to 115 degrees in Santa Rosa and Escambia counties.

Okaloosa County is under a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with heat values that could hit 110 degrees.

Today’s high is forecast to be near 97 degrees. Tomorrow’s high is expected to be near 100 with a heat index as high as 110 again.

There is no rain forecast for today or tomorrow.

According to the National Weather Service, dangerous heat will continue Friday with highs ranging from 98 to 102 degrees. These temperatures, combined with humidity, will result in heat index values of 110 to 118 degrees.

Excessive heat watches and/or warnings will likely be needed Friday, according to the NWS.
