Heat advisory in effect tomorrow

HOLT, Fla., July 19, 2023—Okaloosa County will be included in a heat advisory tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Heat index values are expected to be 105-110 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, prolonged exposure can increase the risk of heat-related illness such as cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

According to the NWS, not much relief is expected Friday as the heat continues.

Temperatures will again climb into the mid 90s with a few areas hitting the upper 90s, so another heat advisory is likely.

Rain chances begin to increase Friday evening/night to the north; however, by Saturday, an approaching cold front should bring rain to the area and relief from the heat, according to the NWS.

Heavy rainfall is possible with the slow-moving front Saturday afternoon and evening.

Saturday’s high is forecast to be around 94 degrees with an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly after 1 p.m.

Sunday’s high is expected to be lower, around 88 degrees, with an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
