HOLT, Fla., July 19, 2023—The National Hurricane Center is monitoring two tropical systems in the Atlantic Ocean.

A tropical wave emerged off the west coast of Africa earlier today.

Located a few hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands, environmental conditions could become favorable for some development by this weekend.

For  now, formation chance through the next seven days is low at 20 percent.

To the north, Tropical Storm Don looks like it will remain in the Atlantic Ocean.

Don is not forecast to strengthen into a hurricane and is expected to weaken into a post-tropical depression by late Sunday or early Monday.
