Heat in forecast today, tomorrow

HOLT, Fla., Aug. 3, 2023—Heat index values will be in effect today and tomorrow with a chance of pop-up showers and thunderstorms both days.

Counties to the west will be under a heat advisory today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For now, Okaloosa County is not included.

Today will be mostly sunny with a high near 95 degrees. Heat index values here could reach as high as 106 degrees.

There’s a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m.

Higher heat values are anticipated for tomorrow.

For now, Okaloosa County will be under a heat advisory tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with counties to the west under an excessive heat watch.

Tomorrow is forecast to be sunny and hot with a high near 97 degrees with heat values reaching as high as 107.

Although the chance of rain is 30 percent, the Storm Prediction Center has the northwest Florida panhandle in a level 1 risk for severe weather tomorrow.

Rain chances increase during the weekend to 60 percent Saturday and 70 percent Sunday. High temps are forecast to be in the mid 90s.
