
CRESTVIEW, Fla., Aug. 28, 2023—A teenager is in custody and warrants are pending against another following a pursuit of a stolen car that crashed into a Crestview business during the early morning hours Saturday.

Mylick Jackson, 18, of Crestview was charged with grand theft auto.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies learned a 2012 Nissan Altima reported stolen out of Destin had triggered a Flock license plate reader camera around 2 a.m. The stolen vehicle was heading eastbound on Highway 90 near Crestview, according to an OCSO news release.

When a deputy attempted a traffic stop, the car sped off.
After about a one-mile pursuit, the car’s driver lost control and crashed into a stand-alone building on the southwest corner of South Main Street and Walnut Avenue in Crestview, according to the release.

The car began smoking and OCSO deputies, with the assistance of Crestview Police Department officers, went inside the smoke-filled business where they found two injured suspects on the ground near the driver’s door.
They got the suspects to safety and both were eventually taken to area hospitals for treatment of injuries caused in the crash, according to the release.
Warrants are pending on a second individual.
Okaloosa County EMS, Crestview Fire Department and others assisted at the scene. The fire destroyed both the building and the stolen car, according to the release.
