HOLT, Fla., Oct. 13, 2023—Invest 94 is slowly but steadily making its way westward across the southern tropical Atlantic Ocean.
The broad area of low pressure continues to produce a few disorganized showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The NHC is forecasting only gradual development during the next couple of days. However, environmental conditions are expected to become more favorable for development by the end of the weekend.
Additional development is expected as it moves into the central tropical Atlantic where it could develop into a tropical depression early to middle of next week.
Formation chance through the next seven days is now at 70 percent.
Should a tropical storm develop, it will be named Tammy. This would be the 19th named storm and the 20th overall storm of the 2023 hurricane season, counting the unnamed storm in January.
After Tammy, only two names will remain on the 2023 list: Vince and Whitney.
To date, there have been 14 tropical storms, two category 1 storms, one category 2, two category 4 and one category 5 storms this year. Of those, only category 4 storm, Hurricane Idalia, reached Florida.
Only two other storms, TS Harold in August and TS Ophelia in September, have made landfall in the United States in Texas and North Carolina, respectively.
Hurricane season runs through Nov. 30.
