HOLT, Fla., Jan. 6, 2024—Score some ribs to go with football’s biggest weekend of the season.
The Holt Fire District’s rib team is kicking off its first rib sale of the new year Friday and Saturday just in time for Super Bowl watch parties.
Don’t be sidelined with boring pizza. Huddle up with a rack of smoked ribs and sides.
The ribs cook for four hours and come out of the smoker fall-off-the-bone tender. They go for $22 a rack.
Susan’s Restaurant assists with sides: baked beans, potato salad and coleslaw. These are available for $4 a pint, two pints for $7 or three pints for $11—perfect to round out any Super Bowl party.
Although this weekend’s lineup includes 171 rib racks, they’ll go quickly, handed off on a first-come, first-served basis.
Ribs will be available for pickup after 1 p.m. both days.
Holt Fire District holds three rib sale fundraisers a year with help from its sponsors: Hub City Smokehouse & Grill, Susan’s Restaurant, Ultimate Waste Solutions and Renauls.
Sponsorships are available. Contact Commissioner Jim Connors for more information.
Those who get shut out from this year’s sale can swing by the station at the next sale during Memorial Day weekend.
The fire station is located on the north side of U.S. Highway 90, a block west of the flashing light at Log Lake Road.
Directions to the rib sale: The fire station is located at 483 U.S. 90 West in Holt. If coming from Interstate 10, take exit 45, turn north toward U.S. 90, then west at the flashing light. The station is on the right.
