Ponce de Leon man arrested in Holt

HOLT, Fla., Feb. 8, 2024—A Ponce de Leon man was arrested early this morning for driving under the influence in east Holt.

Erick Ryan Pope, 35, was arrested for DUI, having drug paraphernalia, marijuana possession, two counts of felony synthetic THC and seven counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Around 12:38 a.m., a Florida Highway Patrol trooper noticed a Toyota sedan traveling on U.S. Highway 90 near Perry Smith Road was unable to maintain speed or stay in its lane, according to an FHP release.

When the trooper took an inventory of Pope’s car, he found a number of narcotics, including methamphetamine, four different types of prescription pills, THC wax and gummies, heroin, cocaine power and crack cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and other unknown substances that were sent off for testing, according to the release.

Pope was also driving on a suspended license.

He is being held in the Okaloosa County Jail without bond.
