Severe weather possible Monday

HOLT, Fla., March 24, 2024—A few severe thunderstorms are possible late tomorrow through Tuesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Mobile, the best potential for severe weather will be to the west across southeast Mississippi.

This area will be in a level 1 severe weather risk environment.

The primary severe weather hazard will be damaging wind gusts, but a tornado cannot be ruled out, according to the NWS.

A line of storms is expected to move through Monday night into Tuesday bringing gusty winds and the potential for damaging wind gusts, although most of the area may not see severe thunderstorms, according to forecasters. If a storm forms out ahead of the squall line, then a threat for a supercell or two would be the primary threat.

Strong southeasterly winds are expected to develop tomorrow morning and continue through early Tuesday morning ahead of the approaching system. Winds are expected to become sustained between 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph possible at times.

A wind advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. tomorrow to 7 a.m. Tuesday.
