Atlantic season beginning to heat up

HOLT, Fla., June 28, 2024—The Atlantic is showing life as a third area of interest is added to the National Hurricane Center’s tropical weather outlook map today.

A new African tropical wave shows some development potential as it tracks behind Invest 95. It has a 20 percent chance of development.

In front of it, Invest 95 is gradually becoming better defined with its showers and thunderstorms showing signs of organization, according to the NHC.

A tropical depression or Tropical Storm Beryl will likely form later today or tomorrow and approach the Lesser Antilles by the end of the weekend, according to the forecast.

The NHC doesn’t expect any development today from the broad area of low pressure in the western Caribbean Sea associated with a tropical wave.

The wave is expected to move over the Yucatan Peninsula and emerge over the Bay of Campeche late tomorrow or early Sunday.

Further development after it moves back over water is possible and the NHC gives it a low 30 percent chance to develop during the next seven days.
