BAKER, Fla., Aug. 2, 2024—An Alabama woman was killed in a traffic accident at Galliver Cut Off and Stanley Lane yesterday evening after being hit head-on by a drunk driver.

Florida Highway Patrol arrested Holt resident Charles Edward Stillman, 58, of Lighthouse Church Road, for DUI manslaughter. He was booked at 3:16 a.m. earlier today into the Okaloosa County Jail where he is being held without bond.
According to an FHP news release, Stillman was heading south around 6:45 p.m. on Stanley Lane in a 2020 Ford pickup when he crossed into the northbound lane.
A 28-year-old woman from Red Level, traveling north in a 2024 Hyundai Palisade, attempted to swerve right but was unable to avoid the collision.
The front end of Stillman’s pickup collided with the front end of the Hyundai. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
Stillman received minor injuries and was transported to the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
Following an interview with Stillman, and coupled with evidence on the scene, a corporal with FHP’s Traffic Homicide Investigations Unit determined Stillman was under the influence of alcohol.
Stillman was placed under arrest following his release from the hospital and was booked with no bond pending his first appearance in court.
