A Destin teen’s Chevrolet Malibu is forced into the guardrail after Florida Highway Patrol troopers execute a PIT maneuver to stop her from fleeing following a high-speed chase on Interstate 10 Aug. 20.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla., Aug. 20, 2024—Florida Highway Patrol was kept busy on Interstate 10 with two high-speed chases before noon today.

Both speeders were female.

Around 8:18 a.m., a trooper spotted a 2001 Honda motorcycle speeding in the westbound lane of I-10 near mile marker 26. The driver was clocked going 92 mph in a 70-mph zone.

When the trooper attempted to stop the motorcycle, the driver instead accelerated, reaching speeds of 140 mph, according to a FPH news release.

Additional troopers joined in the chase around mile marker 12.

The motorcycle driver made several abrupt U-Turns, traveling in the center turn lane to evade law enforcement. She eventually turned into the Walmart parking lot on Pine Forest Road where she was taken into custody, according to the release.

Pensacola resident, Rylen Aiden Moore, 21, was charged with speeding, fleeing and attempting to elude.

Following her arrest, Moore stated she didn’t stop because she didn’t want a ticket.

A Pensacola woman’s motorcycle is impounded after she was arrested for fleeing and attempting to elude after a high-speed chase on I-10 Aug. 20.

Her motorcycle was impounded and she was booked into the Escambia County Jail, according to the release.

About three hours later, in a separate speeding incident, an FHP trooper got a call around 11:38 a.m. from the Alabama Highway Patrol regarding a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu racing away from them toward the Florida state line on eastbound I-10, according to a separate FHP news release.

A westbound FHP trooper spotted the eastbound Malibu near the 7 mile marker.

The trooper caught up to the fleeing sedan after making a U-Turn, but the Malibu accelerated and attempted to flee, according to the release.

The chase ended after the trooper applied a successful PIT maneuver just before the 12 mile marker on eastbound I-10.
