On Sept. 17, Okaloosa County students will observe the importance of the U.S. Constitution 237 years after delegates of the Constitutional Convention met for the first time to sign the document. Students will learn about the document and its importance to the nation’s history and the freedoms Americans appreciate today.
During Celebrate Freedom Week, the last full week of classes in September, students will recite the preamble of the Constitution at the beginning of each day. Teachers will integrate resources from the National Archives and Library of Congress to enhance understanding of the role of the Declaration of Independence in the founding of the nation.
