CRESTVIEW, Fla., Sept. 30, 2024—The historic Bush House and Crestview History Museum will host the city’s observance of Oktoberfest Oct. 12.

Oktoberfest began in Munich on Oct. 12, 1810, as a wedding celebration for Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese. Munich is hosting its 189th celebration this year.

After the success of last year’s Oktoberfest celebration, the history museum has teamed with local partners, including the Main Street Crestview Association and the Crestview Artists Collective, to produce a bigger, grander, family friendly afternoon fest.

The Polka Dots, an authentic German folk band, will perform during Bush House’s Oktoberfest Oct. 12.

Festivities include:

  • a Biergarten and beer tent
  • German folk music by the Polka Dots, a live oompah band
  • a “Künstlerdorf” (artists’ village) where visitors can get a jump start on Christmas shopping
  • German food, including bratwurst, soft pretzels and more
  • souvenir mugs that include a refill of beer or spezi (a crisp half-cola, half-orange soda)
  • a German costume contest
  • a stein race
  • German cultural and history displays in the Crestview History Museum

Oktoberfest will be held at the Bush House, 198 South Wilson St., 3-8 p.m. Oct. 12. Admission is free; food and beverages are available for purchase.
