Laurel Hill man arrested on meth charges

LAUREL HILL, Fla., Nov. 18, 2024—A Laurel Hill man was arrested for trafficking methamphetamine Nov. 8.

Members of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Multi-Agency Drug Task Force and the Special Response Team executed a search warrant in Laurel Hill where they found fentanyl, meth, a handgun, an AR-style rifle and narcotics paraphernalia, according to an OCSO news release.

The residence on Third Street is a short distance from Laurel Hill School.

Seth Dewayne Talbot

Seth Dewayne Talbot, 44, is charged with trafficking in meth, firearm possession by a convicted felon, destroying evidence, resisting a search warrant, probation violation and drug equipment possession, according to the release.

Before the search warrant was executed, the water was turned off from the residence at the meter, according to the arrest report.

During the search after detaining Talbot, investigators found suspected meth residue on the master bedroom toilet and the floor around the toilet. There was little water in the tank and bowl indicating the toilet was flushed after the water was turned off, according to the report.

The investigators found 183 grams of meth, verified after field testing; assorted drug paraphernalia, also field tested for meth and fentanyl; a handgun and a rifle in Talbot’s bedroom. Talbot claimed he owned everything but the rifle.

Talbot has seven prior felony convictions and was on probation until August 2025, according to the report.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Multi-Agency Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Crestview Police Department, Fort Walton Beach Police Department and Niceville Police Department.
