I-10 accident kills one

HOLT, Fla., Feb. 7, 2025—One person died in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 yesterday evening.

An SUV and a pickup were headed west on I-10 around 5:15 p.m. when they collided, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The impact sent the SUV across the center median and into the eastbound lanes where the front of the SUV hit the left side of a truck traveling east.

The female SUV driver, 39 from Pensacola, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither the 55-year-old male pickup driver from Louisiana nor the 45-year-old male truck driver from Crestview were injured, according to the release.

The accident at mile marker 51 closed both eastbound traffic lanes for four hours while responders worked the scene and the Florida Highway Patrol conducted an investigation.

Holt’s exit 45 on-ramp was closed and eastbound I-10 traffic was diverted onto Log Lake Road to U.S. Highway 90 through Holt. I-10’s eastbound lanes were reopened around 9:30 p.m.
