
CRESTVIEW, Fla., May 3, 2025—A former Holt resident was arrested yesterday after being on the run for weeks.

Richard Zachery Wagner, 33, was arrested by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office on multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants. (His middle name is also spelled Zachary in different locations.)
On April 10, Wagner was spotted on a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle around 10:30 p.m. headed onto a trail in the woods near Poverty Creek Road and State Road 393 in Crestview after deputies attempted to take him into custody during a traffic stop, according to an Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers and OCSO Facebook post.
His charges from yesterday’s arrest include:
- obstructing police serving a search warrant
- property damage
- smuggling contraband into a detention facility
- five counts of resisting arrest
- three counts of weapon possession
- grand theft auto
- kidnapping/false imprisonment
- robbery—carjacking
- failure to appear for various charges
- aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability
- three counts of order-revoking bond for weapon possession
- three counts for driving with a suspended license
- two counts of no vehicle insurance
- no vehicle registration
Wagner was taken into custody at a home on Antioch Road after law enforcement tracked him down. He initially barricaded himself inside and refused to exit, according to the release. He is accused of later battering a woman and taking her car by force.
Wagner lived in Holt in 2012 when he was arrested at age 23 for failure to appear on a drug charge. By April 2024, when he was arrested for drugs and driving with a suspended license, he was living in Laurel Hill.
A convicted felon, he has been arrested on a variety of charges including aggravated assault and aggravated battery, drugs, weapon possession and traffic violations.
He is being held in the Okaloosa County Jail without bond.
