HOLT, Fla., Aug. 21, 2025—The pump at the main water well at the Holt Industrial Park is offline due to a power surge in the electrical system.
The pump cannot be repaired and will have to be replaced.
The company that services both Holt wells will be on site tomorrow by noon to replace the damaged pump.
“We lost the pump due to a high-voltage surge,” said Donna Ash, Holt Water manager. “We would appreciate if everyone practiced water conservation for the next 24 hours until we get our new pump up and running.”
In the meantime, the older pump, well and tank next to Holt School will be the primary source of water and will be monitored around the clock while the new pump is installed.
It’s not known how long the installation will take, but the crew will be on site working until the job is done, according to Ash.
“This will not cause a boil water notice,” she said, but asked water customers to use as little water as possible until the installation is complete.
Holt Water has had a series of bad luck during the past 30 days.
A lightning strike July 24 caused a power surge that knocked the pump at the industrial park’s main well offline. Because of the low pressure, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection required Holt Water to issue a precautionary boil water notice.
During the past few months, contractors installing fiber optics cable have damaged a number of water lines. Residents living west of Log Lake Road were without water Friday when contractors broke a water line, twice. This also required a precautionary boil water notice.
