HOLT, Fla., Nov. 10, 2025—An unusually strong surge of polar air will bring sharply colder weather across the eastern two-thirds of the country and record maximum and minimum temperatures in the Southeast including all of Florida through tonight.
This frigid continental polar airmass will continue to stream south through the central and eastern United States behind an associated polar front.
Max and minimum temperatures between 20-30 degrees below average will tie or break many records across the southeast through tonight.
Record-breaking maximum temperatures are also possible for much of the Florida peninsula tomorrow morning as well.
Below-freezing temperatures are forecast for this area after midnight with lows reaching 25 degrees by 6 a.m.
Freeze watches and warnings are in effect from the lower Mississippi Valley to the Virginia Tidewater through tomorrow morning.
In addition to the frigid cold, gusty winds and dry conditions will support an elevated fire weather threat across the central Gulf Coast, where red flag warnings are in effect today.
