WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 2, 2026—All travelers 18 years or older without an acceptable identification at the TSA checkpoint will be required to pay a $45 fee for identity verification through TSA ConfirmID.
This requirement went into effect yesterday.
No fee is required for those who have a REAL ID, passport, military ID or other accepted identification.
Children under 18 do not need an ID for domestic flights. Children flying alone and have TSA PreCheck will need an acceptable ID to receive PreCheck screening.
