LEON COUNTY, Fla., March 5, 2026—A suspect was arrested yesterday evening for the shooting death of a Mary Esther man found in north Okaloosa County yesterday.
In less than 12 hours, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office investigators were able to develop and track suspect, Kavari Corey Domonique McQueen 20, of Crestview, who is being held in the Leon County Jail on an open count of murder.
Investigators said McQueen and the victim were in a vehicle together when they became involved in an altercation that led to gunshots shortly before 6 a.m.
The pair went out into the roadway. A short time later a passing motorist spotted the victim’s body on Taylor Road off Lake Silver Road north of Crestview.
Arriving OCSO deputies found the victim dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
McQueen, who left the scene in the vehicle, was later developed as the suspect and was ultimately taken into custody Wednesday evening in Tallahassee around 5:30 p.m.
Investigators also executed a search warrant at a Crestview area home Wednesday evening in connection with the ongoing investigation.

In August 2025, the Crestview Police Department issued a Facebook request for information on McQueen’s whereabouts. He was wanted for felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, firing a weapon in public, discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm un 18 years of age (at the time of the offense).
