DESTIN, Fla., March 15, 2026—A bomb threat was called into the AMC movie complex located at the center of the Destin Commons shopping area this morning.
As a result, shoppers and workers were evacuated in the immediate area and the shopping center was closed as a precaution while the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office investigated the threat, according to an OCSO Facebook post.

The 8th Annual Mac & Cheese Festival benefitting the Boys & Girls Club of the Emerald Coast scheduled at Destin Commons today was cancelled. It was scheduled to run from noon to 3 p.m.
An all-clear was issued following an extensive investigation with the Sheriff’s Office’s explosive detection dog and other specialized units; however, the movie theater remained closed.
Several jurisdictions in Florida received bomb threats today, according to a statement on the OCSO Facebook page.
“We know disruptions like this can be frustrating, but public safety must always come first,” the post stated.
Traffic was also snarled around the shopping area while the threat was investigated.
