HOLT, Fla., April 2, 2026—An armed man who temporarily held his ex-girlfriend hostage at her home in Holt last night was later found dead inside the residence.
Warrants for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief were already in hand to be served against the 47-year-old in connection with another domestic violence-related incident involving the woman March 27.

She said the man had rammed her car with his truck while she was sitting inside it in the Brown’s Grocery parking lot on Highway 90 in Holt.
This morning around 8 a.m., Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the woman’s mobile home on Cooper Street in Holt after they learned he had gone in armed with a weapon last night and held her against her will.
She was able to escape and contact law enforcement.

Holt Fire District was called to the scene at 9:15 a.m. and told to stand by to assist if needed. Quick Response vehicles 32 and 33 and Engine 32 established a position on John Road and Johnson Street east of Cooper Street.
When deputies arrived, the suspect refused to exit the home. A loud pop was heard from inside the mobile home and specialized OCSO assets were sent to the scene.
After efforts to make contact were unsuccessful, deputies entered the residence shortly before 10 a.m. and found the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
No other injuries were reported.
The investigation remains ongoing.
