HOLT, Fla., March 21, 2017—The 28th annual Pro Rodeo Old Spanish Trail Rodeo is scheduled for April 7 and 8 at the Baker Arena.
Events include rodeo standards of bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, team roping, cowgirl breakaway roping, barrel racing and bulldogging competitions. The evening ends with the favorite bull riding competition.
Additionally, Trish Lynn and the All American Cowgirl Chicks equestrian drill team will perform their trick horseback riding, all done at breakneck speed.
This year, an added event will be freestyle bullfighting. Three freestyle bullfighters—also known as rodeo clowns—will compete each night.
According to the event website, bullfighters will be judged on “their control and maneuvering of the bull, precision in jumping the bull, contact with the bull and handling of the [safety] barrel” for more than $2,000 in prizes.
In between rodeo events, kids will have a chance to score a prize by participating in the chicken and pig scramble. Children 5 to 8 will attempt to catch a chicken. Children 9 to 12 have to snag a “slightly greased” pig to earn a prize.
Gates open at 5 p.m. Rodeo activities begin at 7:30 p.m.
