Blackwater State Park day use areas closed due to Sandy

HOLT, Fla., June 22, 2017–Blackwater River State Park is experiencing moderate flooding due to rainfall from Tropical Storm Sandy.

Deaton Bridge Road has been closed by Santa Rosa County.

As a result, all day use area in the park have been closed and will reopen when flooding has ended. The campground remains open.

At 9 a.m., the stage was 13.2 feet. Flood stage is 11 feet. The river will continue rising to near 14.5 feet by after midnight tomorrow.

The river will fall below flood stage by Saturday morning.

Incoming campers should contact the park office at 850-983-5363 or 850-712-0193 during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) for the most recent roadway conditions and detour directions.
