Throwback Thursday: Railroad through Holts

RR-Map

This small portion of the Southern Express Company railroad map from 1884 shows the Pensacola & Atlantic Railroad.  Holts station lies between Goodrange to the west (now Harold) and Chaffins to the east.

Chartered in 1881 by William D. Chipley and Frederick De Funiak, the railroad was completed in 1883.  It ran from Pensacola to Apalachicola River, about 160 miles.

The railroad eventually became part of the Louisville & Nashville Railroad.
