HOLT, Fla., Aug. 3, 2017–A new system off the west coast of Africa shows some potential for further development during the next few days.

According to the National Hurricane Center, this tropical wave could form a tropical depression by early next week.

Located 500 miles southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands, the system is moving 10-to-15 mph to the west-northwest.

Hurricane models from the South Florida Water Management District show the storm bouncing around the Atlantic a bit, but may smooth out as the system makes it way further west.

The center gives this storm a 60 percent chance of further formation during the next five days.
