HOLT, Fla., Aug. 1, 2017–The National Hurricane Center’s 8 p.m. update has identified a new low in the Gulf of Mexico to watch.

This system, located in the central Gulf is about 250 miles south of Pensacola and is expected to move northeastward over the Big Bend area late Wednesday or early Thursday.

According to the center, wind shear and dry air will prevent this system from further development.

The forecast for the low east of the Cabo Verde Islands remains the same: some slow development during the next few days with little chance of further development by the weekend.

Tropical Depression Emily is expected to be well off the South Carolina coast in 24 hours.
