HOLT, Fla., Aug. 15, 2017–The National Weather Service in Mobile is forecasting high heat indices for today as well as the possibility of strong thunderstorms later in the afternoon.
Heat indices are expected to range from 100-to-105 degrees. Wednesday through the rest of the week promises much of the same high heat.
Scattered-to-numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the region beginning near the coast this morning and then developing inland through the afternoon.
Stronger storms will be capable of producing torrential downpours which could result in localized flooding in low-lying areas.
Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning strikes will accompany most of the storms, and brief strong and gusty winds will also be possible with some of the stronger storms.
Scattered-to-numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue throughout the week with locally heavy rain.
Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and gusty straight-line winds are possible with stronger thunderstorms. Torrential downpours could result in localized flooding.
