HOLT, Fla., Dec. 18, 2017–The Okaloosa County Department of Public Safety’s Emergency Medical Services Division will offer free transportation to local residents who would otherwise be unable to come home for holiday celebrations.
The Home for the Holidays program, offered on a space-available basis, is designed to allow patients in skilled nursing and adult congregate living facilities to go home to family members for holiday dinner.
Patients must be self-supporting while at the residence and left in the care of a responsible family member.
Any Okaloosa County resident who meets the qualifications for the program, while resources are available, will be offered a free round trip that originates and ends in Okaloosa County.
The Home for the Holidays program will operate on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
All requests for transportation must be received by the Emergency Medical Services Division by noon Dec. 22.
