HOLT, Fla., Jan. 31, 2018–The Holt Fire District is firing up the smokers for the first rib sale of the season Friday and Saturday just in time for Super Bowl Sunday.
Beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, the first of 300 racks of ribs go into the smoker where they’ll cook for two hours before being wrapped and smoked for another two hours.
By the time the ribs come out of the smoker sometime after noon, they’re fall-off-the-bone juicy.
Ribs are for sale at $18 a rack beginning at 1:30 p.m. both days in the fire station parking lot.
Also available are sides of baked beans, coleslaw and potato salad. Sides are two pints for $7 and are provided by Susan’s Restaurant.
Funds from the rib sale goes toward Holt’s Fireman’s Fund to pay for events such as the district’s annual Kid’s Day in December or needed firefighting equipment.
