Crestview Police investigating Tuesday bus crash

CRESTVIEW, Fla., April 25, 2018–The Crestview Police Department is investigating an afternoon wreck on P.J. Adams Parkway that sent eight people to an area hospital Tuesday.

Around 2:33 p.m., police officers responded to a call about an accident involving an Okaloosa County Transit bus and a Honda passenger car that had crossed into the path of the eastbound bus.

The nearly head-on collision happened shortly before P.J. Adams’ intersection with State Road 85 and caused the bus to flip upside down and skid down the side of the road, coming to rest on the south shoulder less than 10 feet from a wetland.

The bus occupants, including the driver and six or seven passengers, and the driver of the Honda, who was that vehicle’s sole occupant, were transported by Okaloosa County EMS to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

P.J. Adams Parkway was closed in both directions while the scene was investigated and the wreckage was cleared.

The road closure also affected S.R. 85 traffic because of backed-up turn lanes onto P.J. Adams.

The busy road reopened about an hour-and-a-half after the accident was reported.

The Crestview Fire Department and the Crestview Police Department Chaplaincy Division also responded to the accident.
