Suspicious car in Holt leads to arrests

HOLT, Fla., Sept. 3, 2018–Three males found with a stolen car on Log Lake Road in Holt were arrested Aug. 2.

Ladarious Dewayne Purdue, 20, and Xavier Jones, 16, of Crestview are charged with grand theft auto, burglary and grand theft.

Raheem Perdue, 18, is charged with grand theft auto.

Both Purdue and Perdue are neighbors on Booker Street in Crestview.

An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy who noticed a suspicious vehicle on Log Lake Road found the driver hiding in the woods and two others near the car.

He quickly learned the 2009 Chevrolet Heritage High Road SUV had been stolen from Chestnut Avenue in Crestview earlier in the evening.

The owner, who said she may have left it unlocked with the keys inside, later said she had been asleep and didn’t realize it was gone.

Also missing from the vehicle were two car seats, $90 in cash and fishing gear.

Deputies say additional charges are pending.
