Felipe Felix Oquendo
Felipe Felix Oquendo, 37, was charged with false imprisonment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Oquendo admitted to smoking methamphetamine earlier in the day before the incident and a glass pipe was found in his possession after his arrest.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the home on Willow Bend around 1:10 a.m. after his girlfriend, whom he had refused to let leave the bedroom, escaped and called for help.
She said Oquendo began acting erratic, thinking she was cheating on him with a man in the mattress. He stabbed the mattress with a bedpost, then ripped it apart with his hands.
He locked the bedroom door, barricaded it with the mattress and would not let his girlfriend to leave. When he moved the mattress around the room, she was able to unlock the door and escape.
Oquendo told OCSO deputies he was fighting the man in the mattress and was holding him down when they arrived, but the man then slipped out and left.
After he was read his rights, Oquendo said he saw the mattress move and thought there was a man inside. He said he didn’t try to prevent his girlfriend from leaving.
He also admitted he had been smoking methamphetamine.
He was not charged with destruction of property.
