BAKER, Fla., Nov. 19, 2019—A fun-packed horse weekend never before seen in this area begins Friday in Baker.
The Northwest Florida Horse Expo will be held Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday at the Baker Area Recreation Area, also known as the Baker Arena, located on State Road 4.
Featuring competitions, clinics, demonstrations, seminars, vendors and food, both inside the arena and out, this is a first for the northwest Florida area, according to Tony Happel, event organizer and part owner of Baker Feed and Country Store.
Jackpot competitions includes roping in the arena and barrel racing in the outdoor arena on Friday.

Dummy roping buckles
For the kids, there’s a dummy roping contest Saturday with buckles as the prize, and a stick horse egg-and-spoon race on Sunday. There’s three age categories for both competitions.
Vendors range from tack, saddle repair, tractors and pole barns to clothing, jewelry and arts and crafts. Hub City Smokehouse & Grill will be selling barbecue during the event.
The expo kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. with jackpot roping and barrel racing.
Saturday begins with the Sheriff’s Posse presenting the national anthem. Clinics and seminars throughout the day include Ray Ainsworth, horse starting; Angie Reichert, reining; Jodie Kelly Dressage and Jeff Davis, Downunder Horsemanship, all inside the arena.
