HOLT, Fla., Jan. 7, 2020—The National Weather Service is forecasting severe weather for the area this weekend.
According to the NWS in Mobile, the confidence for the potential of strong-to-severe thunderstorms Saturday continues to increase.
As a result, the NWS’s Storm Prediction Center increased the risk potential over the Mobile forecast area.
As it looks right now, all severe hazards could be possible, with damaging winds and tornadoes being the greatest threat, according to the NWS.
The outlook and details of this potential weather threat will change as the weekend draws near.
The weather service cautions that since this event is still at least five days away from affecting the local area, specific details such as timing, intensity and location of the storm system could change.
In addition to the severe weather potential, there is also the possibility of more locally heavy rainfall later this week, specifically from late Friday through Saturday, according to the NWS.
