HOLT, Fla., March 14, 2020—Holt Academy and Holt Academy-Baker announced they will remain open for day care during the two weeks of spring break and school closing.
Voluntary pre-kindergarten will not be held due to Okaloosa County School District’s decision to close schools the week following spring break.
Because the Florida Department of Children and Family Services has not directed or recommended closure of day care centers, Holt Academy owners have decided to keep the center open unless directed otherwise.
According to the Academy, teachers at each center will make extra effort to cleanse and sanitize floors, toys, restrooms, door handles, water fountains and all other areas at the centers.
In addition to directing extra hand washing, center teachers will be on the alert for any child who exhibits signs of fever, coughing, sneezing, complaints of a sore throat or headache or any other flu-like symptoms.
Parents of children exhibiting these symptoms will be asked to come get them. They can go back to the center as long as a physician’s note states they are clear to return.
Parents choosing to keep children home are asked to call the Academy Monday morning. Tuition will continue unless the state decides to close child care facilities.
Any questions can be directed to Holt Academy at (850) 537-8299.
