CHIPLEY, Fla., March 27, 2020—Maintenance work on the Mid-Bay Bridge will cause lane closures as well as bridge closures beginning next week.
Traffic will encounter intermittent lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. March 29 through April 2 as crews perform routine roadway operations.
Closures
The bridge will be closed to all traffic from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. March 31, April1 and April 2 as workers remove and replace tendons.
Alternative routes are State Roads 20 and 85 and U.S. 98.
Bridge closures will take place periodically through the months of April and May.
Variable message boards at each end of the bridge will alert drivers about restrictions.
Additionally, beginning at 11 p.m. March 31, the Mid-Bay Bridge will be restricted to only two-axle vehicles and single-axle trailers.
This load restriction is a cautionary measure intended to minimize the stresses on the bridge while permanent repairs are made.
