HOLT, Fla., June 1, 202—Holt Fire District responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 10 during early morning hours today.
An eastbound semi hauling walnuts caught fire at mile marker 46 around 1:30 a.m.
No one was hurt in the accident.
The semi driver was able to move to the shoulder and uncouple his tractor before the trailer became fully engulfed in flames.
The eastbound side of I-10 was shut down between exits 45 and 56 and traffic was diverted to U.S. 90 through Holt for several hours while units from Holt, Harold Fire District, Crestview Fire Department, North Okaloosa Fire District, Okaloosa County EMS, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol responded to the emergency.
By 7:30 a.m., the lanes were back open and responders were cleaning up the site.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
