HOLT, Fla., July 12, 2020—Florida set a new national single-day high by adding 15,300 new coronavirus cases according to data from the state health department.
This was the highest number of single-day new cases of anywhere in the United States since the pandemic began.
Today’s update smashed New York’s April high and Florida’s previous single-day high set earlier this month.
Okaloosa County jumped up 138 cases to a total of 1,268, the highest single-day increase.
All areas of Okaloosa County added to their numbers except for Holt, which remains at five total cases.
Baker increased by one for a total of 24. Laurel Hill added three more for a total of 14. Crestview saw its highest increase by adding 33 more cases for a total of 243.
In neighboring counties, Escambia’s 4,146 total includes an additional 484 cases. Santa Rosa added an additional 189 cases for a total of 1,331 while Walton added 23 to bring its total to 561.
