HOLT, Fla., Oct. 5, 2020—The Rotary Club of Crestrview and Tiffany Woodham State Farm are teaming up again this year to help make Thanksgiving a little happier for those struggling to make ends meet.
A food drive to provide all the fixings for a turkey dinner is underway. The bags will be distributed at the Holt Community Food Pantry next month.
“This year the need for Thanksgiving meal bags is greater than ever,” said Rotary Club member Samma Brannon. “The shutdown of our economy and job losses due to the coronavirus pandemic, supply chain shortages making some grocery items difficult to find, children kept at home for online learning and people struggling to overcome flood and tree damage from Hurricane Sally has increased the number of people needing assistance with feeding their families.”
People can donate food items or money at the Tiffany Woodham State Farm office located at 938 N. Ferdon Blvd. in Crestview or the First Baptist Church of Holt.
Donations will be accepted until Oct. 23 in order to have the bags ready to hand out the first weeks of November.
“Our goal this year is 200 bags,” said Brannon. “A complete Thanksgiving meal bag, including turkey, costs $20.”
This is the third year the two organizations have donated Thanksgiving meal bags for Holt pantry distribution.
