CRESTVIEW, Fla., Nov. 15, 2020—A pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing South Ferdon Boulevard at Walmart Road last night.
Renee M. Longoria, 49, of Texas, was killed while attempting to cross in the center of the intersection without using the two available cross-walks just before 11 p.m., according to a Crestview Police Department news release.
According to statements and video obtained from an in-car camera system, both north- and southbound traffic had a green light and a crosswalk indicator displayed red at the time Longoria crossed, according to the release.
The driver, who was from Crestview, drove through the intersection where Longoria was improperly crossing, striking him. The driver was unable to see or avoid striking Longoria, according to the release.
Longoria was killed as a result of the accident.
No charges against the driver are being considered, according to the release.
