CRESTVIEW, Fla., Dec. 19, 2020--Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responding to reports of a loud boom near Crestview yesterday found a Chevy Silverado fully engulfed in flames on Mare Creek Drive around 5:20 p.m.

Crestview resident Kevin Robert Murphy, 28, who owned the truck told deputies he poured gas onto and into his truck and set it on fire. He said he set the blaze as an early Christmas present to himself and to give the Sheriff’s Office to do, according to the arrest report.
Upon being arrested for arson, a search found methamphetamine and a smoking pipe in Murphy’s possession he admitted he used to smoke meth.
No one was injured by the fire. However, an adjacent vehicle and building sustained minor damage.
The Dorcas Fire Department arrived quickly and put out the blaze, according to an OCSO news release.
Murphy is charged with arson, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
